Khejdi is called Khejdi or Khejdo in Rajasthan, Jhande Jhandi in Punjabi, Kandi in Sindhi, Samiya, Sumari in Gujarati.

The tree keeps smiling green even in May-June, with the heat of the Thar.Its fruit pod is called Sangri.

Khejdi is the legume tree of the pulses family whose scientific name is Prosopis cineraria.

Along with the Thar Desert spread in India and Pakistan, this tree is also found in Afghanistan and Iran.The strength of the Khejdi is its root, its roots in sandy ground also go up to a depth of 100 feet.

It is said in folklore that its roots are connected with the umbilical cord of the earth.Once upon a time, the Sangri vegetable, which is called Mewa for the common people of Thar, is now a world famous, nowadays it is served as a royal vegetable in five star hotels and other restaurants.
